Enterprising staff at Dains Accountants spent a day volunteering at the National Memorial Arboretum.

Over 20 employees from the company’s Lichfield Office linked up with the Arboretum’s maintenance team to provide a helping hand with a range of tasks around the 150-acre site.

The team donned their gardening gloves to carry out duties including weeding, hedge cutting and garden tidy-ups.

Staff also helped to clean a series of plaques and memorials around the Arboretum which is the British site of national remembrance at Alrewas, Staffordshire.

It is the third time that staff from the Dains Lichfield office have volunteered for a day at the Arboretum as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment.

The firm prides itself on getting involved with the local community and works closely with groups, organisations and people that live, work and study in the nearby area.

In 2006, Dains set up the ‘Dains in the Community’ initiative to support local charities, events and initiatives and also works with local schools to help prepare students for the workplace.

Lichfield Office Partner Phil Pellegrini said: “We were delighted to spend a day at the Arboretum, helping staff at our National Centre of Remembrance.

“These volunteering days are a great way to gain a closer insight into the excellent work that goes on in the wider community and we are proud to have the Arboretum on our doorstep.”

Phil added: “The Arboretum relies on the support of volunteers and they were grateful for our help throughout the day.

“Our staff enjoyed the experience and we look forward to supporting and working with the Arboretum and other community groups in the future.”
