Six staff teamed up to take part in the Treecycling volunteering day at Treetops Hospice Care in Risley, Derbyshire on Wednesday 8th January 2020.

Treetops provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and asks people to make a donation in exchange for their Christmas tree being recycled.

Staff paired up with each other and a van driver to collect Christmas trees from a series of addresses across designated routes.

The donations which come flooding in throughout the week-long campaign provide vital funds for the hospice and this year’s initiative has raised over £10,500 so far which is a record amount.

During the day, the team unloaded trees at a special drop off point ready for recycling before continuing on their journey to collect more.

Staff from the Dains Derby office who gave up their time to volunteer included Amy Greenall, Hazra Suleman, Hassan Aftab, Kam Atwal, Steve Harrison and Mike Overington.

Amy said: “We were really pleased to be able to support Treetops Hospice Care with the Treecycling project.

“This is a fantastic annual initiative and helps to raise funds for a hospice on our doorstep which provides an amazing service for the people of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.”

Staff across the five Dains Accountants offices in the Midlands all take part in a series of volunteering days each year as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment.

The firm prides itself on getting involved with the local community and works closely with groups, organisations and people that live, work and study in the nearby area.

Laura McWha, from the Corporate Partnerships team at Treetops Hospice Care, said: “I’d like to say a big thank-you to the team at Dains for volunteering their time and resource towards the Treecycling project.

“The scheme has been amazingly successful and has raised a record amount of money for the hospice this year.

“As the scheme continues to grow each year we need more volunteers, so the support we received from the team at Dains for a day was invaluable and we are very grateful to them.”
