A Birmingham-based firm of accountants and business advisors has taken its charitable efforts to new heights, after its staff raised vital funds to support a local charity that helps adults facing homelessness.

The Birmingham branch of Dains Accountants, which operates from five offices across the Midlands, raised more than £7,000 through a variety of fundraising efforts to support SIFA Fireside, a local charity that provides inclusion, engagement and equal access to services for individuals who are disadvantaged or experiencing homelessness.

The team at Dains Birmingham selected SIFA Fireside as their annual charity in 2019/2020 and over the past year has gone above and beyond to champion its work, displaying outstanding teamwork, courage, and community spirit.

In May 2019, ten brave individuals took on the Tough Mudder Challenge, sporting SIFA Fireside t-shirts as they tackled the infamous endurance obstacle course. This amazing group of staff raised over £1,000 for the charity and kicked off the year of fundraising in style. This was followed in October 2019, with another group taking on the Birmingham Half Marathon, collectively raising more than £2,000 to support the charity.

And it’s not just physical challenges where fundraising efforts have been focused. Dains has donated proceeds from its quarterly Cake Club events to SIFA Fireside, including the money raised at its fifth anniversary celebration at Birmingham Cathedral, in addition to other staff initiatives such as dress down days and continued practical support such as goods donations.

Speaking about the partnership with Dains Birmingham, Carly Jones of SIFA Fireside said:

“We’ve been genuinely overwhelmed with the support and generosity of everybody at Dains Birmingham and are incredibly grateful for all of their fundraising efforts over the past twelve months.

The money raised will provide a vital boost in our efforts to support the immediate needs of adults suffering homelessness in the city and enabling them to access services they need to help them get back on their feet.”

Andrew Donaldson, Partner at Dains Birmingham said:

“Our staff have shown incredible enthusiasm and determination over the past year with their fantastic fundraising efforts for SIFA Fireside, whose work has really captured the hearts and minds of everyone.

“Homelessness is a serious and growing problem across the city, so we’re proud to be able to support SIFA Fireside’s vital efforts to support those in immediate and long-term need.”
