Phil has a wealth of experience in VAT having begun his career as a VAT Control Officer with HMRC and then moving to a Big 4 firm, where he spent 15 years prior to joining Dains as Head of Indirect Tax.
Phil has experience in all sectors of VAT from Charities, Education and other public sectors, to small business and large multi-nationals. He has particular business sector knowledge of the automotive industry and his client portfolio includes some of the major manufacturers and their associated retail distribution and finance companies. He is a representative on a number of trade bodies and has been involved in some high profile VAT cases and industry led negotiations with HMRC regarding VAT policy
