Martin has been in professional practice as a partner/director and general practitioner for over 35 years and has considerable experience in auditing and advising family businesses with turnovers ranging from less than £50,000 to over £60 million.
In addition to looking after a portfolio of clients he has, for the last 15 years, specialised in litigation support and forensic accountancy matters. He is a founder member and past Chairman for 14 years of the Network of Forensic Accountants (NIFA) launched in November 1999.
He has been instructed on numerous cases including a wide variety of personal injury loss of earnings and pension claims, (including loss of dependency), matrimonial disputes, partnership, contractual and commercial disputes and criminal defence and confiscation proceedings. He has considerable experience in providing share and business valuations for matrimonial disputes, assessing liquidity and providing taxation advice.
He also has considerable experience of acting as a Single Joint Expert and for both claimants and defendants.
He has given expert evidence in Court on several occasions, including the County and Crown Courts and the Royal Courts of Justice, High Court Family and Queens Bench Divisions.
Training
He receives accredited training as a Single Joint Expert and receives specialist training on a regular basis each year through his membership of NIFA on all the types of forensic accountancy matters that he undertakes. Some of this training is provided by The Academy of Experts. He also attends relevant conferences when appropriate.
Other
He has lectured at a Lime Legal Conference, to the local Family Law Group and to various firms of solicitors on the ‘Valuation of Businesses’.
