Dains Looks To The Future With Continued Staff Recruitment And Promotions

Dains Accountants continue to strengthen across the business and are looking to the future, despite the uncertain economic landscape due to COVID-19.

Terri Bruce has joined Dains and Mark Gurney is now an Associate Director.

Tax specialist Terri Bruce has joined Dains as a Tax Director Indirect Tax while Mark Gurney has been promoted internally to Associate Director for Audit (both pictured above).

Ten other employees have also been promoted to more senior positions in Dains’ audit teams from the start of April and new starters are being recruited for the Commercial Services, Audit, Payroll and Tax teams.

Terri, whose role will focus on SME and not for profit entities, has a wealth of experience in VAT spanning almost 30 years.

She has a strong track record in advising owner-managed  businesses and not for profit entities on issues such as VAT mitigation and simplification, cash flow management, land and property transactions and dispute resolution.

Terri started her career in VAT with Customs and Excise before moving on to become a VAT consultant within the accountancy profession and has worked for three of the UK’s Big Four accountancy firms.

Meanwhile, Mark Gurney is now an Associate Director for Audit after he first joined the business as an audit trainee over 17 years ago.

Mark works with a wide range of businesses within the audit profession across many sectors including owner managed businesses, academies, charities, not-for-profit organisations and professional services practices.

Staff in the Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent Dains audit teams are also celebrating after being promoted to more senior roles this month.

Many of these employees joined Dains on the firm’s graduate programme which gives trainees the opportunity to enjoy a rewarding career, build lasting relationships with clients and aspire to become the business leaders of tomorrow.

In the Birmingham audit team, Akshay Patel. Amy Dobson, Jenny Sam, Lucy Whitehouse and Nick Garner are now all Audit Semi Seniors, Rob Jones has been promoted to Supervisor, while Josh Hawthorn and Shiva Peters have progressed to Assistant Manager positions.

In Stoke, Will Owusu has been promoted to a Semi Senior role while Amy Ellis has become an Audit Senior.
