Businesses Tee up for Charity at Dains Golf Day

The NSPCC has received a £3,000 donation, after 68 avid golfers from a number of Midlands businesses joined forces to take part in a charity golf day hosted by Dains Chartered Accountants.

17 teams from local businesses attended the day at Branston Golf and Country Club to compete in a round of Stableford golf and also take part in numerous ‘mini’ competitions for the golfers to claim the titles of ‘the longest drive’, the ‘nearest to pin’, ‘hole in one’ and ‘beat the pro’ all of which was followed by a meal and raffle.

The event was attended and supported by Dains staff, as well as clients and professional contacts of the accountants.

Money raised will help the local branch of the NSPCC carry on its vital work with children, young people and families through local services as well as its national helplines – ChildLine for young people and the NSPCC Helpline for concerned adults.

Over the past months Dains has donated over £33,000 to local causes by taking part in and supporting a variety of sporting events and by carrying out honorary work.

Richard McNeilly, Partner at Dains and also member of NSPCC Derby Business Board said: “The golf day was a real success and we received lots of support from local businesses. Everyone had a brilliant time, but most importantly, it was rewarding knowing that our efforts were raising money for such a worthy cause.”

Sharon King, NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager added: “The Derby Business Board is entering into an exciting new phase of fundraising activity and the level of support at the Golf Day proves that local people care about the work we are doing. The funds raised will help fund our support services for children and young people who have suffered abuse and neglect. Our ChildLine Schools Service work with Primary Schools within our local communities, teaching children aged 9 – 11 years how to prevent abuse and keep themselves safe. It has already reached thousands of children but we aim to reach every primary school aged child in years five and six by 2016. We know that every pound raised will help us achieve our aim. Thanks to Dains for their on-going support and we look forward to working with them on future projects.”
