We have an amazing opportunity for a Senior Payroll Support Officer to join our Payroll department, as we continue to grow and improve our services. This is a role requiring self-motivation, and an individual who is passionate about providing additional support to a payroll team, in order for them to deliver the requirements of their role.

In this role, you need to be resilient, positive and forward thinking and have the ability to implement changes to working arrangements, whilst assisting the team with organising planned absences and peak processing days.  You will be expected to respond to queries by team members to support their delivery combined with any ‘on the job’ instructions needed, to improve and maintain their skills and knowledge.

Dains is a regional firm of accountants & business advisers based in the Midlands. Our primary offices are in Birmingham, Burton on Trent, Derby, Lichfield and Stoke on Trent. Our skills include accountancy, audit, forensic accounting, corporate finance, tax and employment services (including payroll).

The location for this role will be Lichfield, but you will need to travel to other offices and clients’ premises as required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Respond to queries by team members to support their delivery combined with any ‘on the job’ instruction needed to improve and maintain their skills and knowledge
  • Implement changes to working arrangements of the team in accordance with any plan set out by the Payroll Senior Manager
  • Assist team members in organising planned absences and peak processing days
  • Organise and support, in accordance with defined plans, team awareness and training sessions to build and maintain the skills and confidence of the team
  • Recording and reporting information and data in accordance with instructions from the Payroll Senior Manager or Payroll Quality Control Manager
  • Working with the Payroll Senior Manager to establish processes to address inaccuracies or omissions of information or data
  • Identifying and referring requirements for employment taxes advice to the Employment Services team
  • Researching and providing background information to the Quality Control Manager in relation to any client complaint in accordance with the departments complaints policy

Experience

  • Payroll bureau supervision experience is essential
  • Use of Sage 50 payroll is useful
  • Proficient, in the context of the role, in the use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
