An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Private Client Manager to join our well-established team. Your main responsibility will be to plan, assist, coordinate and deliver tax advisory services to existing and new clients. You will need to build your own portfolio of Private Clients for whom you will act as their primary Relationship Manager.

The successful candidate will be supporting the Private Client Partner in delivering the highest standard of service and managing our Client’s expectations at all times.

Dains is a regional firm of accountants & business advisers specialising in growing owner managed businesses in the Midlands. Our primary offices are in Birmingham, Burton on Trent, Derby, Lichfield, Rugeley and Stoke on Trent. Our services include accountancy, audit, business recovery, forensic accounting, insolvency, corporate finance and tax advice.

This role will be based in our Birmingham office but travel to other offices will be required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of both compliance and advisory assignments to your client portfolio
  • Assist the Private Client Tax Partner as necessary in the overall management of the Private Client department
  • Build and continue to build sound professional relationships with clients
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients throughout the year
  • Respond to client concerns promptly in an effective and professional manner
  • Cross sells Dains services at all opportunities
  • Demonstrate a pro-active approach in providing professional services to clients
  • Be pro-active in proposing solutions to clients
  • Attend client service reviews and works with the team to identify improvements and opportunities
  • Demonstrate good listening and questioning skills in dealing with clients
  • Contribute to client understanding at meetings, presentations and interviews
  • Assist the Partners in preparing the annual budget for the Private Client department and in the monitoring of budgets and WIP on an ongoing basis
  • Have an overall responsibility for the management of WIP on your client portfolio
  • Ensure that maximum recoveries are achieved, agreeing in advance additional fees with clients where additional work is carried out
  • Be a pro-active member of the division’s management group, embracing specific tasks to move the division forward
  • Have an active involvement in relevant networking events
  • Identify and refer opportunities for other departments within Dains
  • Identify potential business development opportunities
  • Be active in the production of client proposals
  • Formulate the overall marketing strategy for the department
  • Initiates and develops business contacts

Technical Skills / Knowledge:

  • CTA qualified
  • Ability to use/learn software and systems operated by the company as appropriate (eg Caseware, CorTax, MYOB AE Central, Singleview*)
  • To have a good understanding of relevant Microsoft Office software, eg Outlook, Word, Excel and any other packages relevant to the role
  • You may from time to time be required to attend courses (internal and external) to aid you in the capacity
  • STEP would be preferred but isn’t essential
