Dains are recruiting for a Forensic Analyst to join our successful Forensics team in our Birmingham office. This is a brand new role that has been put in place to support the Partner and Managers in the summarising, analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex financial and business related issues in respect of dispute resolution, litigation, fraud and financial misrepresentation. We need someone who can work independently and has experience of working within a fast-paced environment and to tight deadlines. This is a full-time permanent position.

Ideally you will be AAT qualified and have a keen interest in Forensic Accounting. Reporting to the Senior Manager.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Investigating and analysing financial evidence
  • Carrying out due diligence
  • Developing computerised applications to assist in the analysis and presentation of financial evidence
  • Communicating findings in the form of excel workbooks/spreadsheets, exhibits and collections of documents
  • Working at different levels, from local to national and international matters
  • To understand and apply basic accounting principles as appropriate/necessary
  • To be aware of and apply, where appropriate, the concept of analytical review

 The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • AAT qualified
  • Able to apply technical knowledge
  • Able to seek advice where appropriate to minimise risk
  • Have basic knowledge of the effect of taxes on a set of accounts
  • Have basic knowledge of the technical aspects concerning a set of limited company accounts
  • Have a basic understanding of all current appropriate auditing and accounting practices
  • The ability to use/learn software and systems operated by the company as appropriate
  • Have a basic knowledge of main accounting systems in the marketplace (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks etc)
  • Excellent time management
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
  • Able to perform well under pressure
  • A Positive, can-do attitude
