John is a highly experienced and pragmatic audit partner, who is responsible for leading audit engagements that add real value and insight to his clients.
John joined Dains in November 2023, having previously worked as an Audit Partner in a Big 6 firm for the previous seven years. Before that, he spent a year working as the head of financial reporting in Jaguar Land Rover. Previous to this, John worked within a Big 4 professional services firm, leading audit engagements to a range of privately-owned and private-equity backed businesses, whilst also gaining experience in transaction services and valuations during his time there. Over the course of his career, John has had significant experience working with businesses across a range of sectors, including automotive and aerospace manufacturing, retail, healthcare and consulting, amongst others.
John is focused on ensuring that his clients obtain not only a robust audit opinion on their financial statements that stakeholders can rely upon, but that management teams receive relevant advice and recommendations that help them achieve their overall goals and objectives.
Beyond work, John has worked with a local college to support the development of employment skills of their learners and has also advised a Birmingham-based social enterprise. During his downtime, John enjoys spending time with his family and friends, including travel to various far-flung locations, and considers himself to be a bit of a foodie. He is also a long-suffering Portsmouth FC fan.
