- Dains buck the trend in professional services with another senior appointment...
Thursday 09 July 2009 -
Dains, has recently strengthened its tax team with the appointment of Phil Luty as Director of Indirect Tax. This is the second recent senior appointment the Midlands-based firm has made to its tax services.
Phil has extensive experience working in indirect tax and joins Dains after 15 years working for one of the Big 4 accountancy firms in Birmingham and London. Phil brings skills and client networks which complement those of the existing team at Dains. Phil’s particular specialism is advising the automotive industry on VAT matters.
Phil said: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role. I’m looking forward to implementing a dedicated indirect tax service at a local level that will provide clients with access to the kind of specialised advice that is usually only available from larger corporate accountancy firms.”
Spencer Wright, Chief Executive at Dains comments: “Phil’s appointment is part of our strategic growth in specialist tax services. We see VAT as becoming even more important for our clients. Businesses will need specialist help to adapt their operating models as they react to the extraordinary circumstances brought about by a combination of the credit crisis and a number of major VAT developments in the pipeline; such as the VAT package, the new penalty and voluntary disclosure regime and of course the recent change in the standard rate of VAT. As a firm we are committed to building a strong team with the skills and resources available locally to help clients. Phil’s appointment is a clear indication of our desire to attract and develop the very best people in the region.”
