New Electricians Tax Safe Plan will be introduced in the New Year...

Posted by on 2 December 2011 | 0 Comments

The new plan will be launched in February 2012 and will offer favourable terms for electricians to come forward and declare any underpaid tax. This follows similar amnesties previously announced for private tutors and plumbers.

Following this initial amnesty, HMRC will then probe those who fail to come forward under the plan and specifically target those whom HMRC consider to be under-declaring their income.

The introduction of this new plan comes following the success of the Plumber's Tax Safe Plan, which resulted in over 1,200 investigations and five arrests.

HMRC’s website defines an electrician or electrical fitter as “anyone who installs, maintains and tests electrical systems, equipment and appliances under stringent safety regulations”. This very broad definition is likely to have been purposefully set to ensure maximum possible participation in the plan.
