To take responsibility for the community...
Each of Dains offices selected to support a local, community based charity as the focus of the firm’s Christmas fundraising initiatives...
Our Lichfield office supported Pathway Project. The Pathway Project supports women and their families who have suffered domestic abuse by helping them build a new life. Food hamper collections were delivered to Pathway just before the Christmas holiday.
Our Derby office supported Derby Safe and Sound by collecting selection boxes which will be added to gift bags that are distributed to all of the children in their care. The children range from 5 to 18 years and have all suffered or are in danger of abuse, be it physical or mental.
Our Rugeley office supported Stafford Hospital Childrens’ Ward by donating toys and games for use on the ward.
Our Burton office collected for the Shoebox Appeal... this appeal requires you to fill a shoebox with small gifts for a child in Romania. The Burton collection was added to the boxes being sent by Violet Way Academy in Burton.
Our Fort office once again supported HomeStart (Winson Green, Handsworth & Sandwell by collecting food which the charity can use to support the vulnerable families it works with. Nationally Home-Start supports almost 77,000 vulnerable children across the UK. Last year, nearly 17,000 volunteers gave a million hours of support to families, helping them cope with post-natal illness, isolation, bereavement, disability, domestic violence and much more.
Donate to and support charities that are important to employees and our clients...
During 2011 Dains in the Community supported numerous individuals as they sought to raise funds for the charities and initiatives that are important to them. We supported individuals as they... trekked the Great Wall of China, took part in the BRMB Walkathon, Race for Life, Silverstone Half Marathon, Three Peaks Challenge, Coast to Coast, and London to Brighton Bike Ride, as well as other charity walks and bike rides... and not least of all we enjoyed supporting our colleagues who took up the challenge of ‘Movember’!
Other charities and groups supported include: Stepping Tones Choir, County Air Ambulance, Fountains Special School, Circus Starr and Maxstone Church National Garden Scheme.
Help to raise awareness...
In June 2011 Dains was delighted to take part in the UK200 National Event ‘It’s Not the Olympics’. This national event raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Not the Olympics 2012 event ran from May to November and participating members of the UK200 Group were be tasked with relaying a mock Olympic torch across the UK via any mode of transport other than the modern card. The torch travelled the length of the UK before reaching the Olympic Stadium in November.
The initiative raised £28,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, and Dains is delighted to have contributed £4,000 towards this overall total.
Alzheimer's Society staff and volunteers provide both local information and over 2,000 services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to people affected by dementia in their communities. Their local services include day care and home care for people with dementia, as well as support and befriending services to help partners and families cope with the demands of caring. From Alzheimer's Café's and innovative 'singing for the brain' sessions to memory-book projects and group outings, their services provide both practical support and an essential point of human contact. www.alzheimers.org.uk
