new uniforms for local youngsters…

Cadets from St John Ambulance Bucklands End Division have a lot to smile about since ‘Dains in the Community’ donated £891 to the youngsters so they could buy new uniforms.

Helen Jones, a youth leader at Bucklands End Division based in Hodge Hill, said, “We are delighted with the new uniforms and are very grateful that a local company has supported us in this way.” The Cadets have recently finished their first aid training, and are hoping to volunteer their time at events in the community, kitted out in their familiar black and white uniforms.

Manuela Pullinger, of Dains in the Community, said, “Dains is proud to have participated in such a worthwhile cause, which offers young people fantastic development opportunities while using their time for activities that benefit the entire community.”

‘Dains in the Community’ was formed two years ago to support local communities, charitable causes and events. Since its formation, ‘Dains in the community’ has committed a total of nearly £40,000 through honorary work, fundraising and donations to local causes.

St John Ambulance Bucklands End Division had to temporarily close last year due to a shortage of leaders. St John Ambulance is still seeking volunteers to assist in the weekly sessions. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer youth leader can call 0121 237 3899.
